PC Mike Turner, from Waddon's safer neighbourhood team, became the first non-traffic police officer in Croydon to issue a fixed penalty notice for the offence of driving with no insurance last Wednesday, October 25.
New Home Office guidelines changed on September 20 giving non-traffic officers the power to issue tickets which carry a £200 fine and six points on a licence.
