Old Coulsdon Swimming Club is struggling to stay afloat because its members have no pool to use.
The 21-year-old organisation is on the verge of folding after the pool they use at Coulsdon College in Placehouse Lane, Old Coulsdon, was closed.
The club has only managed to meet twice this year at a swimming pool in Caterham. Members fear that without somewhere local to swim the club is in grave danger.
The pool is set to be knocked down to make way for a new state-of-the-art sports centre that will not have swimming facilities.
Steve Wise, Old Coulsdon Swimming Club secretary, said: "There is definitely a chance of us folding. Unless we can get somewhere to swim, ending the club is a real possibility.
"There is also the problem of having sufficient members, it's important that we have a base of about 30-40 members to make it viable. People won't join if we don't have anywhere to swim and without the members or a place to swim we will close the club.
"Even if we get a regular slot in Caterham that is too far for a lot of our members so they won't want to join. We want to keep the club going but it's totally out of our hands."
