Lambeth's high streets are to benefit from a £52,600 cash injection from the Government to reopen or re-use empty shops, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government John Denham has announced.
Mr Denham made the statement while visiting Brixton on December 3, where he met Lambeth Council leader Steve Reed and Brixton town centre director Stephanie Butcher.
Coun Reed said: "We have had to think creatively about the best way of keeping the Brixton economy thriving and the high street vibrant, and I am both proud and pleased to see that our solutions have reaped positive and tangible benefits."
