A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 40s was stabbed to death inside a home in Cheam Village.
Met Police were called to reports of a disturbance inside a residential address on Park Road at 9:55pm on Thursday, May 27, and found the victim inside suffering from stab injuries,
Officers attended and provided initial first aid before the London Ambulance Service arrived, but despite their best efforts the woman died at the scene at 10:43pm.
A man was detained nearby shortly after the call was made to police, and he has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
At this early stage, it is believed he and the victim were known to each other.
Formal identification has not taken place, and a post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
A murder investigation has been launched into the attack, and the suspect remains in custody in a south London police station.
