An author visited teenage girls in Sutton to raise awareness of forced marriage and honour-based violence.
Aneeta Prem visited Carshalton High School for Girls on Friday, January 25, to talk about and donate copies of her book- But It's Not Fair.
She is the president and founder of Freedom charity dedicated to fighting forced marriage and honour-based violence.
Tom Brake the MP for Carshalton and Wallington also joined the assembly and said: "I’ve read Aneeta Prem’s book. It was enjoyable, but at the same time offered a powerful and important message without being overly dramatic. It is an important book.
"I believe everyone should be able to choose the person they wish to marry and share their life with. We need to make sure youngsters are aware that they always have the option of refusing marriage, and that there is somewhere they can look for advice and support."
If you require support or advice on forced marriage and honour-based violence contact the Forced Marriage Unit on 020 7008 0151.
