The tables were turned on reporter Alice Foster when she went to visit a school magazine club last week.

During a visit to St Martin’s Junior School in Ashley Road, Epsom, last Wednesday, dozens of children, aged 8 to 11, quizzed her on the most exciting story she had written and the most famous person she had ever interviewed.

The Epsom Guardian reporter had come to the school to give the pupils in the magazine club an insight into life as a journalist.

She said: "Judging by the number of questions the children had I’m sure they would all make very good reporters. I had a great time."

During the session she described a day in the life of a reporter, gave journalism tips and listened to pupils interviewing each other.

Ruth Hindmarsh, 9, said: "It was really, really fun and I learnt what it is like behind the scenes of being a reporter."

Teacher Vanessa Cooper said: "The visit was so they can gain more understanding of the life a journalist leads.

"It’s linked to what they chose to do by going to magazine group."
