A new passport photo printer purchased by Merton safer transport team will allow year six children to process their Oyster card applications in school.
Currently 11 to 15-year-olds need photo Oyster Cards to travel free on London’s buses. With the help of the new printer, the team is able to go into primary schools by appointment to help children get their photo card.
Parents complete the relevant forms and the teachers check the identification documents.
A spokesperson for the team said the response had been good.
“It enables children to have the correct card for travel and its one less thing for them to worry about in the transition from primary to secondary school,” they said.
