Roehampton children paid tribute to a teacher they lost to brain cancer with the opening of a memorial garden last Friday.
“Tracie’s Garden” is dedicated to Tracie Taylor, who worked as a nursery nurse at Alton Primary for 20 years and died suddenly at the age of 45 last September.
Her family joined teachers and pupils in opening the garden, which includes chimes, sweet-smelling plants and a book area where pupils can read.
All year teachers have been fundraising to get enough money for the garden, with activities including taking part in a sponsored run and putting on a spelling bee.
Headteacher Ruth Hudson said: “Her aim in life was to give children the best deal she could. That informed every decision.
“This is a celebration of Tracie’s legacy to the Alton and the community.”
