A Kingston primary school has gone back to basics in order to raise money for the school’s parents and staff association by holding its first ever car boot sale.
Inspired by the tough economic times, St Agatha’s Catholic School open up its playground to cars and vans on July 4, while people are also being encouraged to walk in on the day with goods to sell.
PSA chairman Cristina Britz said: “We were wondering how we could find new and innovative ways of raising money for the school, at a time when we are acutely aware that parents just don’t have lots of spare cash.
“Then we hit upon a car boot sale. It’s a great community event, it gives all us parents a fantastic excuse to clear through all the stuff in our homes we no longer need and it provides a very green (and profitable) way of recycling goods people no longer need, but which are too good for the rubbish dump.”
Anyone wishing to book a stall should contact the school on 020 8546 3879.
