Shrewsbury Lodge School in Esher - previously known as Milbourne Lodge Junior School - has announced the appointment of its new headteacher for the next school year.

Gill Hope will start in her new position at the school in Milbourne Lane from Tuesday, September 1.

Mrs Hope, who before the appointment was a teacher at Milbourne Lodge Junior School, was educated at St Catherine’s School in Bramley and gained a bachelor of education at the Froebel Institute in London.

Andrew Weiss, chairman of governors at Shrewsbury House and Lodge schools, said: “We are delighted that someone of Gill’s calibre and experience has accepted the position.

“Her outstanding credentials in pre-preparatory education will be invaluable in leading Shrewsbury Lodge through one of the most exciting periods in the school’s history.”

It was announced Milbourne Lodge Junior School was to be renamed Shrewsbury Lodge earlier this year, after the school joined forces with Shrewsbury House preparatory school in Surbiton.

Shrewsbury Lodge will continue to welcome boys and girls from the age of three to seven and to prepare them for the prep schools of their parents’ choice.

A £1.3m refurbishment of the buildings and facilities at Shrewsbury Lodge will be completed by the end of this summer.
