More than £9,000 worth of brand new laptop computers were stolen from a Leatherhead secondary school last week when burglars smashed their way in through a classroom window.

The thieves climbed over a perimeter fence and broke into the school which the police will not name between 11.10pm and 11.40pm on Tuesday June 16.

They then broke into an office and made off with the 22 laptop computers.

The stolen laptops were 21 Dell Vostro 1510s and a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300; the Dell Vostro 1510s were all black.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Simon Cox said: "The majority of these computers were intended for the pupils and the loss of so many expensive teaching aids is a real blow to the school.

"We are very keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this burglary last Tuesday night or who may know the whereabouts of these laptop computers now.

“These types of items usually retail at around £400 each so if you are offered a laptop for sale or see ones matching their description being sold at a price that’s far cheaper than normal, please report it immediately to your local safer neighbourhood team immediately.

“I would urge anyone with information to please contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 quoting reference MV/09/2772, or call Crimestoppers if you wish to remain anonymous on 0800 555111.”
