The circus came to town last week, when Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School put on a community event to entertain children and adults alike.

Happy’s Circus Big Top came to field of St Mary’s School in Sugden Road, Long Ditton, on Friday, June 19, bringing with them something for all ages, including BMX and skateboard stunt artists, aerialists, fire eaters, as well as Happy and Pip the clowns.

Aileen Widdowson, one of the organisers of the event, said: “Putting on this event was a huge deal for our school - never done before by us and against a strange economic background.

“We are a small, 210 strong school and we put a lot into this event to involve as much of the community as we could.

“It was a roaring success and is being talked about all over the area.”

The Friends of the Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School thanked Gascoigne Billinghurst in Hinchley Wood and Claygate and Joy Indian Cuisine in Surbiton for sponsoring the event.
