An eight-year-old fan of adventure books is celebrating being crowned Sutton young mastermind 2009.
Rachel Prince, an Avenue Primary School pupil, claimed victory with her knowledge of the Rainbow Magic novels.
Braniacs at each primary school in the borough had been invited to test their wits in the hot seat.
Rachel said: “I thought it was a bit tough. I was really surprised because I didn’t think I’d win. I read four books and my mum tested me at home. I’d like to thank my teachers and my mum for supporting me.”
The five other finalists were Rushey Meadow pupil Casey Beams, James Offens, of Tweedale Primary, Milo Wakefield, of Stanley Park Juniors, and Barrow Hedges student Edwin Pendlebury.
