Sixty children, some of them in fancy dress, went galloping round a 400-metre track in a fun run in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital to get the Woodmansterne Primary School summer fete off to a good start.
After completing the run the children launched themselves into the festivities and those with enough puff left took advantage of the bouncy castle, had their faces painted, or just cooled down with icecream.
The police were there along with representatives from St John Ambulance who fascinated the children with a selection of fake blood and make-believe injuries.
At the end of the day more than £2,300 was added to school funds.
