There was a buzz in the air at Leapfrog Day Nursery in Thames Ditton last week, when the children dressed as bumblebees to try to break a world record.
The youngsters donned yellow and black striped clothes, antenna, yellow sunglasses and facepaint.
The nursery was among 131 nurseries in the Busybees group that took part in the record, with more than 10,000 people dressed as bees on the same day across the UK.
Nursery bosses are yet to find out from Guinness World Records if a bumblebee fancy dress record already exists, but will submit their evidence in the coming months.
“Bee active on bee day” at the Thames Ditton nursery involved obstacle courses, exercising and dance and was part of a fortnight of activities for the government’s Change4Life healthy living campaign.
