Choirs at Notre Dame Senior School in Cobham will perform at a mass at Westminster Cathedral this weekend.
The 120-strong choir, under the baton of the school director of music Robin Fenton, are taking part in the first in a programme of performances over the next year, following on from their recent tour to Rome.
It will culminate with a performance at the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela in Spain, next Easter.
The choir will perform songs composed by Mr Fenton, including one called the Notre Dame Mass, written in celebration of the 400 year anniversary of the founding of the Company of Mary Our Lady.
St Jeanne de Lestonnac started the order in Bordeaux, which was the first to educate girls and accompany them in their efforts to build lives.
Kathryn Singleton, one of the school vocal tutors, will sing the solo to Mr Fenton’s setting of the Ave Verum during communion.
Mr Fenton said: “The choirs have worked very hard and I am delighted that they will have this opportunity to perform at Westminster. It is an honour and will be a very special experience.”
The performance will take place on Saturday, September 26, at 6pm.
