Ten children have won prizes for completing the Merton Summer Reading Challenge.
In a ceremony at the newly renovated Pollards Hill Library, the winners were rewarded by Merton mayor Nick Draper after reading at least six books over summer.
The event saw more children than ever before entering this year, with 2,905 children from Merton taking part.
Councillor Linda Scott said: “It's excellent to have had so many young people reading this summer.
“Children's education is a priority for us in Merton and we will continue to organise schemes like this to increase learning and reading both inside and outside of the classroom.”
Some 1,421 children completed the challenge, a figure up from 1,279 last year.
The challenge is designed to draw youngsters into “a life-long love affair with books”.
