An anti-gun and gang message was taken into Wandsworth’s secondary schools last month - with a little help from a “souped up” double decker.
Police officers hired the tour bus from Roehampton-based charity Regenerate to preach their message of peace to a selection of the borough’s pupils.
The tour visited Elliot, Chestnut Grove, Battersea Park and Ernest Bevin schools.
It came about thanks to PC Jo Ramsay and PCSO Paula Walsh-Thornburn, who came up with the idea to show the DVD in schools to warn children about the dangers of becoming involved in gangs.
PC Ramsay said: “This initiative was aimed at engaging with the young people in a more interesting and fun way while promoting a strong message of the dangers of gang and knife crime.”
The bus was also used to promote alternatives to gangs to steer young people away from antisocial behaviour by channelling their energies into positive projects.
Wandsworth’s youth engagement team promoted London Week of Peace by showing presentations from the Every Life Matters DVD - a preventative programme sponsored by the the borough’s youth offending team.
