Pupils from a junior school have been recognised as outstanding by the Government’s education watchdog.
Ofsted inspectors visited Warren Mead Junior School, in Banstead, where they spent four days going to lessons, holding meetings with governors and staff and chatting with children.
They particularity noticed the pupils’ contribution to the school.
Headteacher Tony Woodward said: “[The inspection] came as a real surprise, but I was confident we would all pull together to do our best.
“They were very keen to learn about how our school promotes cooperation and partnership between all members of the community.
“We were especially keen to celebrate our links with a primary school in China.
“This is an excellent achievement for the school, it recognises the hard work which goes into providing a whole school experience which is exciting, challenging and enjoyed by all.”
