A school has been placed in special measures after an Ofsted report listed concerns about student progress.
A major action plan to drive up standards is now underway at Culvers House Primary School, which had disappointing SATs results in July 2009.
Sutton Council has already been working with the school to increase attendance and improve reception children’s progress in learning and mathematics.
A new head teacher, Robert Eyre-Brook, joined the school in January to provide strong leadership and is supported by the deputy head, Barbara Clark, on secondment from Stanley Park Junior School.
Ofsted recommended the school improve good teaching and eliminate inadequate teaching.
It found that the overall effectiveness of the early years and foundation stage to be good.
Mr Robert Eyre-Brook, said: “The children are keen to learn and I am determined that they shall be able build on the good start they make in our Foundation Stage and go on to reach their full potential.”
