Children’s author Alexander Gordon-Smith visited Parkside School in Stoke D’Abernon to celebrate World Book Week with the school.
The author of the popular children’s books The Inventors and the Furnace series, was one of several authors who ran workshops for the pupils on March 1.
Alex Milway, author of the Mousehunter series and writer/illustrator Nicholas Allan also took part.
There were a number of other book-related activities at the school, including the annual Parkside Prose Reading contest and “drop everything” sessions, where pupils, teachers and other members of staff stopped what they were going to pick up a book and read.
On March 4, pupils were due to continue the literary celebrations by making a £1 donation to the Friends of Parkside charity to dress up as their favourite character from a book.
The pupils were also promised a book-themed menu by the school chef.
