A teacher at a Wimbledon sixth form has been suspended over allegations she had a sexual relationship with a pupil.
The teacher, from Wimbledon College, who has not been named, faces losing her job over claims she had sex with an 18-year-old student at the Edge Hill school.
While such a relationship is only illegal if the pupil is 17-years-old or younger, the teacher is under investigation by the school for a potential breach of professional standards.
Father Adrian Porter, head teacher at Wimbledon College, would not confirm who made the allegations, but said the teacher in question was suspended last week.
He also would not confirm if the teacher taught the 18-year-old pupil.
It is not known how old the teacher is, or how long she had been working at Wimbledon College.
He said: “A complaint has been received alleging a relationship outside school between a female teacher and an adult student in the Sixth Form.
“The teacher has been suspended while the complaint is investigated and consideration is given to whether professional standards have been breached.”
