A school which has trebled its pupil numbers since it opened seven years ago is giving its children an outstanding education according to watchdog Ofsted.

Inspector Beryl Richmond, who visited the school for two days in February, graded the school “outstanding” for it’s overall effectiveness.

She also deemed it “outstanding” for “it’s capacity for sustained improvement.”

The report said the pupils have achieved well because they “thoroughly enjoy learning” and were given the “best opportunity to develop”.

It said that teachers used good strategies, and the school “has been successful in developing a very cohesive local school community.”

Headteacher Jane Fairbourn said: “The whole school community feels very proud of this result. The team here is incredibly dedicated and it is nice to get this validation of all our hard work.”

The Ofsted report read: “Southfield Park provides its pupils with an outstanding education. Pupils achieve well because teaching and learning are at least consistently good and they enjoy an exciting, creative and meaningful curriculum.”
