Two Streatham school pupils were recognised at a national awards ceremony for excelling at school despite challenging personal circumstances.
Andrea Iezekiel, 11, missed much of the beginning of the school year with suspected cancer.
But now, despite being in pain, she is back at St Andrew’s Primary School and an executive member of the school council.
Fellow pupil Eunice Boka, 11, was awarded for her efforts at school despite family changes that have left her caring for her siblings.
Both were honoured for their achievements at the Champion Awards 2010 put on by safe education watchdog Kids Taskforce.
Other St Andrew's Primary School pupils honoured were Ella Kennedy, 10, Rebecca Ah Soo Leen,11, and Ronan Joyce, 11.
