A New Malden lawyer is spearheading a new mission to deliver south West London’s first Jewish primary school.
Laurence Kingsley, who runs his own solicitors’ firm in Malden Park, brought together representatives of Kingston’s Jewish community to discuss potential sites for the new school.
Mr Kingsley said: “At the moment I’m not able to give details about what sites we are looking at, but we’re really excited about the possibility.
“After the Jewish holiday, in two weeks’ time, we’ll hopefully be able to release more details.”
A new steering group was established at the meeting, called the South West London Jewish Primary School Project, which aims to provide a cross-communal school for children from south London and Surrey.
Mr Kingsley said an inclusive school would probably be most attractive for prospective parents and that he had been seeking advice from teachers and fundraisers.
But a spokesman from Kingston Council said on Wednesday that no discussions had taken place with them, suggesting that the plans are still at a very early stage.
