Staff at an all-girl secondary were forced to intervene after a pupil was assaulted by an adult inside the school this morning.
Helen Dorfman, the headteacher of Burntwood School, in Tooting, today confirmed the incident took place - but stressed no one was hurt.
The Wandsworth Guardian was told of the assault by a worried parent, who said a pupil had been accompanied by a parent and their friend into the Burntwood Lane school earlier today.
She said an argument with another pupil took place, and this pupil ended up being slapped by the parent’s friend.
Ms Dorfman said: “A parent of a girl in Year 8 came onto the site and in the course of what happened another girl was assaulted.
“When this happened, staff were able to intervene. Nobody was hurt but there was an angry exchange.”
She also revealed that the girl who was assaulted has been in lessons all day and that she is holding meetings with parents of both girls along with the school’s police liason officer later this afternoon.
