Budding actresses performed professionally at a Shakespeare festival for charity.
Tolworth Girls’ School have been part of the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival for the past three years but this year were specially chosen for a fundraising performance at the historic Gray’s Inn Court Rooms.
A cast of 12 students from years ten to 13 performed a 15 minute version of Romeo and Juliet which formed part of the overall event The Trial of Romeo.
The pupils walked the boards in the banqueting hall where Shakespeare himself once performed a Comedy of Errors and performed alongside professional actors.
The event aimed to raise sponsorship for the festival this autumn, which gives schools across the country the chance to perform an abridged version of a Shakespeare play in a professional venue.
The school are already rehearsing for their next contribution to the festival, a Midsummer Night’s Dream, which will be performed at The Riverside Studios in Hamersmith on October 5.
