Celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the Kingston University of the Third Age are drawing to a close.
Members of the voluntary organisation, which is open to anyone in the ‘third stage’ of their lives, enjoyed a penultimate event to mark the occasion, which they have been celebrating throughout the year.
British broadcaster and writer Katharine Whitehorn joined the group as a guest of honour and speaker for the dinner at Kingston Lodge Hotel.
Outgoing chairman of Kingston U3A Sylvia Oates was thanked for her organisation of the celebrations.
Elinor Parker will take up the post in time to host the final event of the year, which will be a gala concert at All Saints Parish Church, Kingston, on Tuesday, December 13.
Kingston U3A Orchestra and Kingston U3A Choir plus the Singing for Fun Group will entertain with a programme to include carols, works by Holst, Faure and Corelli.
The Kingston branch of the international voluntary organisation is and brings together over 700 members to learn and share knowledge, take part in activities and go on visits.
