A storage company is hoping its Christmas appeal will help vital medical research.

Access Self Storage stores in Wimbledon and Mitcham have started to see the first donations for Merton Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Group following the launch of its Christmas charity appeal.

Access Self Storage Mitcham store manager, Ajanthan Naguleswaran said: "Last year was such a success as we had over 100 donations. This year we hope that the public will get behind us to support such a great local charity and beat last year’s total.

Please, please donate now to the appeal so we can continue to help raise awareness and support Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia patients, their carers and families."

A drop off point is open at Unit 1 Gresham Way, Wimbledon, and 141 Morden Road, Mitcham.

Eulalee Valentine from Merton Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Group said: "We want to continue to raise awareness and support Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia patients, their carers and families, allowing their `voices’ to be heard.

"To enable us to do this Merton Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Group needs support. We need to raise £100,000 for premises and an outreach worker."
