Brentford boss Uwe Rosler saw his side force Premier League Chelsea to dig deep to beat his side, but he does not want the Bees to be happy with being nearly men.
The Bees crashed out of the FA Cup thanks to a 4-0 fourth round replay defeat at Stamford Bridge yesterday, after they had held the European champions to 2-2 draw at Griffin Park last month.
Goals from Juan Mata, Oscar, Frank Lampard and John Terry eventually accounted for Rosler's men, who kept the scores at 0-0 until the 54th minute on Sunday, having twice led the original encounter.
Indeed, Brentford might have taken the lead again through Marcello Trotta only for play to be pulled back for a foul in the build up on Adam Forshaw by Chelsea midfielder David Luiz.
"After the first game Chelsea blamed the wind and our pitch, but Rafa (Benitez) paid our players a lot of respect by putting out a very strong side," said Rosler.
"At periods Chelsea were running out of ideas. Obviously, we had to run so much without the ball that eventually we got tired. They used one of those moments for a magic goal.
"We forced them to give their all to beat us. The scoreline doesn't really reflect the game.
"You need a little luck and fortune, and as a club like Brentford, you need the 50/50 decisions to go our way.
"For me, the referee has not decided the game, but with a little more sensitivity we might have had the lead.
"My players saw that collectively, when we stick to the game plan, we can compete with teams who are better than us. But we don't want to be a nearly team, we want to get a result.
"This is a valuable experience for our players."
Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez added: "We knew they would work hard and scoring the first goal would be the difference.
"They worked very hard in the first half and it would have been difficult for them to maintain the same intensity during the second half.
