New Brentford goalkeeper David Button will have the number one shirt for Saturday’s big League One kick off.
The mid-week recruit from Charlton Athletic, brought in on a two-year contract to replace Simon Moore, played an hour of Tuesday night’s 3-2 friendly win over Premier League Cardiff City.
Moore signed a deal with the Bluebirds for an undisclosed fee, although an injury in the Bees’ pre-season clash with Millwall kept him out of last night’s action.
Meanwhile, Rosler confirmed the 24-year-old Button was the only keeper the club had spoken to and that he will play the first game of the season at Port Vale.
Rosler said: “It was a very difficult decision whether or not to play him with a team he has never trained with.
“It was a difficult decision but I thought because I want to start him on Saturday, he had to play against Cardiff, and he did very well.
“He’s a quality keeper and we’re very happy to have him. There is good competition, for me Jack Bonham has had a fantastic pre season and is really pushing for a number one shirt but I felt we needed a little bit more experience.
“David will start on Saturday.”
Brentford found themselves 2-0 behind after less than 15 minutes against Cardiff City.
However, two goals from Everton loanee Conor McAleny brought the Bees level, and Paul Hayes hit the winner with only moments left.
