Jack Clifford is hoping a good showing at the JP Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s will help propel him into the Harlequins first team.
The 20-year-old back row made one appearance off the bench in last season’s Aviva Premiership campaign, and three in the successful LV= Cup run.
Clifford did lead the England U20s to glory in the RBS Six Nations Championship in February, and the IRB Junior World Cup in June.
He said: “You are always looking to push into the first team more, that is the ultimate aim for everyone.
“The Rugby 7s is a great place to show case your skills in front of watching coaches, especially when you’re up against the likes of Chris Ashton and Tom Varndell.
“They are real tests and you have to test yourself against the best to prove yourself to the coaches.”
Quins kick off their Rugby 7s assault on Saturday at Allianz Park against Wasps, before taking on London Irish and Saracens.
