New London Scottish prop Jimmy Litchfield gets another crack at top flight rugby, London Welsh's doomed Premiership campaign last term will have been a worthwhile learning curve.
The-23-year-old former Hartpury College graduate penned a deal to switch to the Athletic Ground from Old Deer Park this week and joined his new club in time for the start of pre-season training.
Litchfield helped Hartpury reach National League One in 2014 and lifted the BUCS Championship title at Twickenham the same season.
Litchfield also played for Gloucester United in the Aviva Premiership A League while studying in Gloucestershire before joining London Welsh ahead of last season's Premiership campaign.
"I'm naturally thrilled to have signed for a club like London Scottish," he said.
"Results spoke for themselves last season with Scottish doing fantastically well.
"Hopefully, it's something we can replicate again this season.”
He continued: "Last year was a tough season for London Welsh.
"Playing in the Premiership can be an unforgiving place, but I took a huge amount of positives away from being in a top flight environment which will stand me in good stead for the rest of my career.
"I'm still quite young for a prop and I'll relish being coached by Tim Payne who played at the highest level for many years.”
London Scottish forwards coach Tim Payne added: "Jimmy is a strong scrummager which is absolutely key when playing in the Greene King IPA Championship.
"He's also useful around the park and in the loose and I genuinely think Jimmy is a player who can really develop his game at London Scottish over the next 12 months.”
