Harlequins full back Mike Brown has targeted a place on the British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand in 2017 to complete a full list of representative honours.
The 30-year-old, capped 43 times by England, signed a contract extension at the club this week that will take his stay at the Stoop beyond 15 years.
Brown, who has scored 79 tries in 248 appearances for Quins, has seen the club lift the National Division One - now the Championship - title, European Challenge Cup, LV= Cup and Premiership crown since joining its academy in 2002 and making his debut in 2005.
Only a Lions Test cap is missing from his collection while European Champions Cup and World Cup winners medals remain elusive in terms of silverware.
And Brown is out to the put that all right.
"I believe we have some exciting times ahead of us with the new guys coming into the club this season and the young talent coming through from the academy," he said.
“I feel we can compete at the highest level and push for silverware.
"Over the coming years I will be playing at my peak.
"I feel fit, strong and with the experience I have gained by playing international rugby, it will give me every opportunity to achieve the personal goals I have set for myself to win trophies for Quins, continue to play for England and hopefully be part of the 2017 Lions tour.”
Brown arguably hit his peak for England during the 2013/14 season when he was named QBE player of the series, RBS Six Nations player of the tournament, the RPA’s England player of the year and the Aviva Premiership player of the year.
And Quins director of rugby Conor O’Shea says there is plenty more to come from him yet.
“Mike is the epitome of what Harlequins stands for; he has come through our Academy and become one of the great full backs of world rugby," he added.
“I have watched him grow and become the bedrock for whatever team he plays for. He maintains the highest of standards off the pitch and will play at the highest level for many years as a result of that.
"We are all delighted he wants to commit to his only club for what will be, in all likelihood, the remainder of his career.”
