Harelquins prop Joe Marler has been issued with a formal warning from the RFU over comments he made on social media regarding former Australia coach Bob Dwyer.

Marler directed a tweet - deleted minutes after posting it - at Dwyer in the wake of criricism relating to England's scrummaging style in Saturday's  39-28 triumph over the Wallabies in Brisbane.

The 25-year-old apologised for the comment and will see the warning, which can be relied upon in future disciplinary proceedings, remain on his record for a period of five years

The RFU have declined to comment further and now consider the matter closed.
