Aaron Drinan fired Sutton United into the first round of the FA Cup with a dramatic injury time winner as the U's beat Wealdstone 2-1.
United had Nicky Bailey sent-off in the last minute and were facing elimination from the competition when the Stones were awarded a last minute penalty.
However, goalkeeper Jamie Butler saved Bradley Bubb's spot-kick, paving the way for the winner.
Sutton broke forward, with Jonah Ayunga bursting through before feeding Drinan who fired home his first goal for the club to spark wild scenes on the terraces at a sun-drenched Grosvernor Vale.
With £25,000 up for grabs to the winning side, the first half was a tense affair.
Both sides had chances to open the scoring with Kieron Cadogan hitting the post for Sutton on the half hour.
The U's felt they should have had a penalty just before half-time when Cadogan was brought down by goalkeeper Jonathan North but referee Samuel Allison disagreed and awarded a corner.
The hosts took the lead five minutes into the second half through Bubb from the penalty spot.
Bailey should have put Sutton level soon after, but his header went over when he looked odds-on to score.
Ayunga was brought on to replace Tom Bolarinwa in the 55th minute and the pacy striker proved a real handful for the Wealdstone defence.
The Stones let Sutton off the hook by missing an open goal themselves before the U's levelled in the 65th minute.
Skipper Jamie Collins kept his cool to score from the spot.
Sutton grabbed the game by the throat and looked dangerous going forward.
Ayunga, Drinan and Charlie Clough all went close for the U's while Butler made two smart saves at the other end.
However, as the clock reached 90 minutes there were still plenty of twists left in the game.
The home side were given a golden chance to win it after being awarded their second penalty.
Before Bubb could take the all-important kick, Sutton were reduced to 10 men when Bailey was shown his second yellow card for his protests.
Bubb finally took the penalty but Butler guessed correctly to save Sutton from a certain early cup exit.
The U's pushed forward with the impressive Ayunga leaving a trail of defenders in his wake before setting-up Drinan who repaid the faith shown in him by manager Paul Doswell to fire the U's into the first round in the most dramatic fashion.
In the excitement which followed, United's assistant manager Micky Stephens was booked. Stephens played more than 500 games for Sutton without being cautioned.
The draw for the first round is live on BBC 2 on Monday, 7pm.
