Wing David Strettle is waiting to find out the extent of the foot injury suffered in England's disastrous Six Nations defeat by Wales at Twickenham on Saturday.
Strettle, who missed last autumn's Rugby World Cup after breaking his metatarsal, aggravated the injury on Saturday and is definitely out of next weekend's match with Italy in Rome.
He has been sent back to Harlequins, whose medical team will be liaising with England on his further treatment and rehabilitation.
It was a miserable day all round for the English with Mike Tindall likely to miss the rest of the championship with bruising to his liver, Tom Rees suffering an injury to the medial collateral ligament of his left knee and Lewis Moody injuring his right Achilles tendon.
