Former AFC Wimbledon star Roscoe Dsane revealed he had mixed feelings after his penalty opener set Torquay United on course for a 2-0 FA Trophy victory over the Dons at Kingsmeadow on Saturday.
Dsane's spot kick, early in the second half, calmed the Blue Square Premier outfit's nerves after the Dons had threatened to pull off an upset in a combative first period.
But the 27-year-old, who hit 21 goals last season before departing for Accrington Stanley in the summer, admitted it had not been an easy return.
He said: "After I scored the penalty, I was about to run off and start celebrating and then realised where I was, so I toned it down.
"I am happy we got through but I am gutted for the Dons and the fans.
"But my job is to score goals for Torquay United and that is what I have to do."
Dsane scored eight goals in a brief spell at the Fraser Eagle Stadium before his surprise switch to Plainmoor last month.
With the Gulls sitting second in the Blue Square Premier table, he may be back strutting his stuff on the league stage next season.
But the livewire striker insisted he would always have a fondness for the Dons.
He added: "I have still got a load of friends here and there was quite a lot of banter flying about with the old Wimbledon boys this week.
"I always keep an interest in AFC and I always look out for their results and how they have got on.
"I really hope they do well for the rest of this season."
