Sutton United have confirmed that Jimmy Dack will not be manager next season.
Dack was caretaker boss for the final five games of United's Blue Square South season, claiming a win and a draw after replacing Ernie Howe.
However, Dack has decided not to become manager after failing to agree a playing budget for next season.
A statement issued by the club said: "During his few weeks at the club he put in a tremendous amount of effort and certainly raised spirits all round, as we knew he would.
"We have had several long, in-depth chats with Jimmy about the role of manager and what is needed to revitalise this club.
" However, Jimmy felt that the role of manager at Sutton United is not the right position for him at this point in his career.
"We have nothing but praise for the way Jimmy has conducted himself during his brief stay with us and wish him well with whatever he does next.
"We do have a short-list of candidates and will be meeting with these next week and hope to be able to confirm our new managerial team very soon."
