Elliott Godfrey has vowed to wow Dons fans next season after admitting the Kingsmeadow hordes have far from seen the best of him.
Midfielder Godfrey struck seven goals in 32 starts for Wimbledon last season in a campaign blighted by a groin injury and loss of form.
But after securing a new deal with boss Terry Brown, the 26-year-old is eager for the chance to impress again.
Godfrey said: “I must admit I was a little bit nervous at the end of the season as to whether I had done enough.
“A lot of faces and a lot of friends were released so it was an anxious time.
“The frustrating thing is I know I have a lot more to offer.
“I was not happy at all with what I did last year.
“It was far too stop-start and so I can honestly tell everyone that there is a lot more to come.
“Last season was the first time I have ever had an injury in my career and that set me back, so my first priority is to stay healthy and force my way into the starting line-up for the first game of the season.”
Boss Brown’s transfer activity to date this summer has seen defender Paul Lorraine, midfielder Steven Gregory and striker Luke Moore arrive at the Blue Square Premier new-boys.
And Godfrey is more than confident that come August the Dons will hit the ground running.
He added: “Terry knows what he is doing and he knows what everyone is about.
“The players he has bought in are quality and are experienced at a higher level and that is great for us.
“The club has a plan and there will probably be more new faces to arrive and if that is more competition for me then so be it.”
Canadian international Godfrey will be returning to training along with his fellow Dons on June 27, preparing for their first pre-season game against Wycombe Wanderers on July 11.
And the former Hampton & Richmond star is itching to get underway.
He added: “I absolutely cannot wait.
“I never thought I would get the chance to play in the Blue Square Premier and I am very excited.
“You always want to play at the highest level you possibly can so it will be a great test for me.
“I am very proud to be part of this AFC Wimbledon team and hopefully we can take things even further.”
