Crystal Palace have drawn newly promoted Torquay United in the first round of the Carling Cup, while Brentford will face Championship side Bristol City at Griffin Park.
Torquay won the Blue Square Premier play-off last season and will be looking to cause an upset at Selhurst Park in their first League Cup tie since 2006.
Bristol City meanwhile will provide a stern test for Andy Scott's men as they begin life in League One.
The ties take place in the week beginning August 10 after the first league game of the season on August 8.
The fixtures for the forthcoming season are due to be announced tomorrow.
