Terry Brown has targeted four more summer signings as he looks to mould the AFC Wimbledon squad ahead of their Blue Square Premier debut in August.
So far the Dons boss has snapped up defender Paul Lorraine, midfielders Derek Duncan and Steven Gregory and striker Luke Moore as he looks to swell the ranks at Kingsmeadow.
But Brown reveals he is far from finished yet.
He said: “In a perfect world I would be able to bring in another four players.
“Ideally I would want another young goalkeeper, a left-sided central defender, another midfielder and an extra striker.
“I am not in any rush and this pre-season there seems to be a lot of players available.
“We have put ourselves in a decent enough position to not have to rush out and grab anything.
“I have been in this game long enough to know these deals do not come easy, but if I could bring in two or three of those requirements I would be delighted.”
Wimbledon begin their pre-season preparations this weekend as they introduce a new tougher training regime with four days a week sessions.
And Brown cannot wait to see his new boys strutting their stuff.
He added: “The guys we have bought in so far all bring a lot to the table.
“Paul Lorraine will bring us a lot of leadership, and he has a tremendous will to win that rubs off on other players.
“Steven is quick and skilful, as is Derek.
“Derek is also a very clever player and he can get up and down the line easily, so you can play him in a number of positions.
“Luke Moore is a fantastic prospect - I say that but he has already played over 100 games at this level for Ebbsfleet, I just think he has a lot more to offer.”
The Dons will then embark on an attractive pre-season schedule that includes games with Wycombe Wanderers and Brighton.
And Brown has served notice that he intends to experiment.
He added: “For me the perfect pre-season is that none of the players get injured - I do not care about the results.
“I have been at clubs that could not win a game in pre-season and then struggled when the real thing gets underway, and last season we had poor friendly results and look what happened.
“It will be all about mixing things up and trying things out.
“I will not be playing the whole first team in any of the games.
“I will have two separate sides and will be trying out new formations.
“The fans might not like that but it is very important that we have a plan A, B and C this season and that is what the pre-season will be all about.”
