Terry Brown admits he has no idea what his line-up will be for the Dons’ opening Blue Square Premier clash with Luton Town on August 8 - and hopes Wimbledon’s tough pre-season schedule will remedy his problem.
The Dons get things under way this weekend when they host League One new-boys Wycombe Wanderers in a repeat of the FA Cup First Round clash last November.
And Brown reveals it will be a case of mix and match until he finds the right formula.
He said: “I want to give everybody in the squad an equal opportunity to stake a claim.
“I have 22 players and the aim is to give everyone 45 minutes playing time.
“I will be using two mixed sides in each half as I want no preconceptions that one player is considered a first choice or better than another.
“That will be the same pattern for the first four or five games.
“I’m really not that worried about the result - it is all about showing us what we need to work on and making sure no one gets injured.”
Wimbledon crashed 4-1 to the Chairboys in their FA Cup clash after a series of defensive howlers.
And the Dons boss hopes history will not be repeating itself come Saturday.
He added: “Although I’m not too bothered by the score I don’t want us giving goals away like we did in the cup game.
“If we are going to lose I want them to have to work for it.
“In a perfect world we would have started off with someone a bit easier, but you do not want to miss out on these chances.
“It is just as early for them as it is for us, and we just want to get out there and give the fans something to enjoy.”
