When professional footballers head to the Costa del Sol they often return in swathes of controversy surrounding late night drinking sessions and discharged fire extinguishers.
But Brentford striker Ben Strevens has revealed that couldn’t be further from the case with boss Andy Scott in charge in the Spanish sunshine at Marbella - no-one has the energy.
“It has been pretty much a boot camp really. We’ve been up at 6am to have breakfast and then out on the training ground until lunch,” he said.
“After we’ve eaten we’re left to relax and make sure we get some sleep in before we’re out training again at 6pm to avoid the hot sun.
“Andy is running a pretty tight ship. No-one’s got enough energy to cause any trouble. Anyway, for me, it wouldn’t be the done thing considering I’ve only been at the club a couple of weeks.”
And he can’t wait to get stuck into the first pre-season friendly at Ryman League Premier Division champions Staines Town on Saturday.
“We’ve been putting in the miles in terms of running, but I think everyone is ready to just start playing,” he added.
The squad returned to west London on Thursday and will be present when the new home kit is launched today at the club shop between 12pm and 1pm.
