North Greenford United 1-6 AFC Wimbledon

Manager Terry Brown says he now knows the team that will kick-off the club’s Blue Square Premier adventure this weekend.

Wimbledon swept aside Combined Counties League North Greenford as trialist Callum Morrisen and impressive Sam Hatton both scored twice.

Target-man Morrisen, hoping to earn a deal after impressing against the Dons in the Isle of Man three weeks ago, flies back home tomorrow.

And Brown will sleep on the decision to keep the player at the club.

He said: “Show me a fit Callum Morrisen and I’d sign him. You can see the lad’s got quality – but is he fit? No he isn’t. And with Danny Kedwell in the same boat I cannot have two unfit forwards in the squad.

“I honestly do not know what I’m going to say to the boy tomorrow. I like him a lot. He’s been here for four days and has done well. He wants a decision and I still haven’t made one. It’s awkward and it still needs more thought.

“I actually think he’s got goals in him but he was blowing out of his a*** after five minutes which says it all. It’s not Callum’s fault, he didn’t know he was coming, but I’ve got a lot to consider.

“However after tonight I now know my team for Saturday which I’m delighted with. We know what kind of test they’ll be for us but funny things happen on the first day of the season up and down the country.

“It will be a special day with a great atmosphere. Yes, they’ll be favourites but who knows what will happen.”

Brown, in and out of the dug-out with Simon Bassey and Marcus Gayle in charge, was delighted to go into the Luton game with goals under his belt.

Wimbledon – with many of their first team on show – were streets ahead of their CCL opponents and after Hatton had an early header cleared off the line the opener wasn’t far off.

Jon Main’s flick found Morrisen and he touched the ball into the bottom corner. Hatton’s belter of a free-kick then made it 2-0 in under a quarter of an hour.

And before too long the midfielder was at it again – making the most of the outstanding Luke Moore’s hard work to thrash beyond Gary Jallow from 20-yards.

Morrisen had a goal harshly chalked off for offside but the opposing linesman Ben Furneaux got it right the other side of half-time.

He correctly judged Moore kept the ball in play and the former Ebbsfleet man picked out Main who nodded back to Elliott Godfrey for a simple finish.

Jallow saved brilliantly from Main’s 25-yarder before the forward unselfishly teed-up Morrisen for his second.

Joe Sparrowhawk reduced to deficit and made it 5-1 with a tidy low finish passed Seb Brown before Morrisen was denied a hat-trick from fully 45-yards when retreating Jallow tipped his lob over.

Substitute Elliot Frost completed the rout six minutes from time.
