Brentford boss Andy Scott moved to ease his forward line injury crisis today by adding former Sheffield United frontman Steve Kabba to the ranks of new faces at Griffin Park this season.

The 28-year-old ex-Crystal Palace trainee penned a one-year deal on Thursday after training with his new team-mates earlier in the week.

Scott had faced starting the new campaign at Carlisle United on Saturday with only Carl Cort as a lone specialist striker after Ben Strevens broke his leg at the weekend to join fellow forward Charlie MacDonald on the long-term treatment table.

Kabba has recent Championship experience with Watford and Blackpool to his name and Scott insists he is out to prove a point during the coming campaign.

"Steve is another striker of proven quality at a higher level and I've been tracking him for a while," he said.

"We were close to signing him last season, but he chose to join League One Oldham Athletic.

"The fact we have been promoted gave us the opportunity to bring him in and him the chance to kick-start his career.

"We are hoping we can benefit from his season of frustration at Watford.

"The enthusiasm and commitment he has shown us so far proves he is prepared to do what he can to go forward."
