AFC Wimbledon 1-1 Crawley Town

Dons required a late Danny Kedwell goal to salvage a draw – and then Red Devils manager Steve Evans claimed the home fans “need to see a shrink” if they think they can get into the play-offs.

The typically outspoken Scot, Crawley’s manager, doesn’t think either side are capable of a top five place.

Jefferson Louis’ deflected free-kick put the visitors ahead after 38 minutes.

Kedwell netted goal number nine of the season when his header from Chris Hussey’s cross skidded off the turf and over Simon Rayner. The leveler came 14 minutes from the end.

But Evans said: “Our ‘league’ if you like revolves around the likes of Wimbledon, not the ten or eleven ex-Football League clubs.

“If the people here, and they’re good fans don’t get me wrong, hold out hope that they are going to get in the play-offs then they seriously need to see a shrink.

“Like us, they aren’t going to do it either. There are three divisions in the Conference and clubs like these need to be careful they don’t get sucked into the bottom division.”

Wimbledon manager Terry Brown had a dig of his own – and also said it was two points dropped after their fourth straight draw.

The home manager was once again critical of his midfielders’ lack of goals.

Sam Hatton hit the Crawley crossbar but it is now eleven games without his midfielders finding the net.

He said: “It’s two points gone tonight. It was always going to be difficult once we handed them the lead.

“I’m not too sure it was a free-kick but they got that bit of fortune they needed. They are a difficult side to break down. I expect Histon to be almost identical on Saturday.

“They are well-disciplined and play no risk football. They deliver up to their two giants and get bodies around them – we found it hard to get in at times. We had it all throughout the Ryman League and we had it tonight.

“We again kept our patience but I am not going to keep making excuses for our midfielders not scoring. How Sam hasn’t buried that I’ll never know.

“I have just said to my six midfield players that it isn’t good enough. I’m not asking for a 20-goal a season man. They are under a lot of pressure now and I’m making sure I keep it that way.

“We are wasting points at the moment. They score for fun in training. If they were doing their job we would be right up there but they still aren’t.”
