Boss Andy Scott has warned his Brentford stars they will need to be on their game for 90 minutes in Saturday’s London derby with Millwall at Griffin Park.
The Bees were left frustrated by an injury-time FA Cup first round equaliser at Gateshead on Saturday as they left the north east with a 2-2 draw and the prospect of a potential second round home tie with Walsall.
It means Scott’s men have won only twice in their last 14 games as they entertain the Lions at the weekend, who emerged unscathed from their 4-1 cup triumph over AFC Wimbledon on Monday night.
And the Bees chief, who was at the New Den earlier in the week, admits they will be at tough nut to crack.
“They were very good against AFC Wimbledon. They are pretty relentless when it come to going forward so we are going to have to be on our guard,” he said.
“They are a very good side and got to the play-off final last year. They are one of the better sides in this league, so they will provide us with a stiff test, but they are not unbeatable.
“From our point of view we will be going out to nullify their threats and try and exploit their weaknesses.”
Scott was relieved to be in the hat for the second round after watching his side come back from a goal down, but insists his side’s FA Cup interests are history for the time being.
“The only game we are thinking about is Millwall. We can’t afford to think beyond that and certainly can’t start to consider games that may not even happen,” he added.
“People will have looked at our game and thought it was a potential banana skin. We are disappointed not to have got through at the first attempt but we live to fight another day.
“When you are 1-0 down you think it is not going to be your day, but we responded well. It is a difficult place to go, but we showed great determination to come back with something.”
Ticket prices for Tuesday night’s replay with Gateshead will be the same as those for regular League matches after the visitors refused to allow a reduction.
Brentford’s next three games: Nov 14 Millwall (h), 17 Gateshead (FAC, h), 21 Walsall (h).
