Double strikes from Myles Weston and Charlie MacDonald helped Brentford dispatch Blue Square Premier strugglers Gateshead 5-2 in the FA Cup on Tuesday night.
Striker Ben Strevens' first goal for the club on 42 minutes kick started the rout before MacDonald headed the second from Cleveland Taylor's cross on the stroke of half-time.
Graeme Armstrong pulled one back for the visitors after the break, but once MacDonald slid home Marcus Bean's through-ball the game was over as a contest.
Weston's 35-yard thunder bolt and his second from close range made it 5-1 before Amrstong's completed his double and the scoring as Brentford set up a home clash with League One rivals Walsall in the next round.
