Andy Scott may have done his homework, but he still admits it is going to be a tough ask for Brentford to get a result when high-flying Leeds United come to town on Saturday.
The Bees boss was a face in the crowd at Elland Road on Tuesday night as he watched the Whites disposed of Kettering Town 5-1after extra-time in the FA Cup.
It meant the Griffin Park manager didn’t return home to west London until the early hours of Wednesday morning, but he felt it was a worthwhile mission.
“We have got to be at the top of our game and they have got to have an off day if we are going to get something out of the game,” he said.
“It was worthwhile. I got to see what I wanted - which is sometimes easier in the flesh - and there are some areas we can exploit.”
He may have spent seven-and-a-half hours on the motorway, but he wasn’t too tired to miss the launch of the Brentford FC Community Sports Trusts Impact Report launch.
Where he added: “The motivation for us last season was to get promoted to enable us to compete against the likes of Leeds United, Norwich City, Charlton Athletic and Southampton.
“These are the days we all look forward to. Leeds are the sort of club we aspire to be, but we want to be an example of a well run club on a budget that is realistic.”
Brentford’s next three games: Dec 12 Leeds United (h), 19 MK Dons (a), 26 Gillingham (h, ko 12.30pm).
